William Chabbey
Issued from a family with a large musical background. He was born 1967 in Paris and started playing guitar at the age of 4. The influence of Django Reinhart, Wes Montgomery and Jimmy Hendrix helped him to develop his own style of playing. In Paris he studied with Pierre Culaz the father of the young French guitarists. 1988 he founded his own Trio with Bassist James Lewis and George Brown. With this group he toured in France for two years. He also works as a sideman in the band of Brazilian Bassist Carlos Werneck. 1996 he recorded his CD "Meeting With The Cool" which presented him as a highly talented Composer and established him as one of the leading guitarist in France. Parallel to the Moritz Peter Quartet he still heads his own Trio now with pianist/organist Patrick Villanueva and Andy Baron on drums. With this Trio he was programmed at "Nancy Jazz Pulsation 2000".
